Rtn. David also announced the Rotary Club of Beijing is cordially invited to attend Midori Goto’s violin concert at the Beijing Concert Hall on Thursday, October 15th at 7:30pm. The price for each ticket is 150RMB and the seats are specifically cordoned off for Rotary members. This offer will close on Thursday due to the need to get back to the ticket office. Midori is one of the great violin talents of this era and plays sold out venues around the world. This offer was made by David as president of the China USC Alumni Club, Midori is an alum.

President John reported on RIP John Kenny’s meeting with Ministry of Health (MOH) last Friday. Unfortunately not much progress, Mr. Kenny asked how it might be possible to advance Rotary in China and was told that this was a Ministry of Civil Affairs matter and that it would be best to be patient. He than asked about the possibility of adding another in Guangzhou to service members who were moving there from Hong Kong and was given the same answer. President John related that Mr. & Mrs. Kenny were impressed by their visit to Sun Children’s village. June Kenny remarked that holding one of two newly arrived babies was the most remarkable event of the trip and symbolized the value and spirit of Rotary’s efforts in China.

President John also shared a PPT he prepared from the “Gift of life” project bus donation ceremony at Henan Zhenzhou NO.7 Hospital on August 8th. Rtn. Ulrike; Bunrei and Regula also attended the ceremony. Local TV and Newspaper broadcasted this wonderful news. Please ask CA Nancy if you wish to read the newspaper (only in Chinese).
