President John opened the meeting by extending a warm welcome to our guests and fellow members.
Four way test was done by Serge-at-Arms Charles in English and Chinese.

Reports & Announcements
Visiting Rtn. Harry S. Luan announced his club at Concord, CA USA District 5160 is a 100member club. He stated he is very happy to have had the chance to actually visit the Rotary Club of Beijing.
Visiting Rtn. Clandc Herion, Munich Germany also introduced himself. He is currently working and living in Qingdao.
President John reported the August 29th BBQ fellowship at Swiss Hotel was successfully. Happy money RMB 2820 was raised for club projects.
President John also reported that Beijing Rotaract Club has been officially charted by RI. Certificated will be presented to Rotaract Club in due cause.
There will be two international Rotary friendship groups visiting our club over the next three weeks. The groups are composed of Rotarian’s from all over the globe.
Rotary Ball 2010 Chair, Rtn. Raphael Goue introduce Charles Simon who along with three other young French interns will be helping to arrange the 2010 RCB Ball. He is also looking for advise and ideas on how to make the next ball more interesting and fun. Members with ideas on how to have fun should contact him.
Ms. Rita Zhao, Honorary Principle of Beijing School of the Deaf, who is also a passionate scuba diver asked members to send some tips on how to save and protect our ocean. The tips will be distributed to the children as part of a project field trip and will hopefully impress upon them the feeling that many people care about the issue. Members who would like to participate should email Rita at afews[at]yahoo.com. BEFORE SEPTEMBER 20TH.
Membership committee director Peter Humphrey gave a membership committee report. The committee met on August 29th at the BBQ event. Due to the economy and other reasons, numbers are off, in addition a number of members have applied for LOA. Peter believes that there are a number of members who may be eligible for membership exemptions which is allowed if your age and years of Rotary membership equal or exceed 85 years.
