President Elect Gilbert opened the meeting by extending a warm welcome to our guests and fellow members.

Reports & Announcements
IPP Kevin invited members again to join the trip to Gubeikou on September 27. This is the second visit this year the first was in May, joint partner Mr. Jim Firmin from Rotary Club Louisiana USA will also be on the trip. Members who would like to go please contact CA Nancy.
Peace Ambassador Jeff Reiss announced that September 21st was the International Day of Peace. 75,000 schools from around the world are participating. Jeff noted there is a Peace Pool at the Holiday Inn in Lido and he invited our members to place a RCB banner there as an expression of support.

Speaker’s Program
Rtn. Alan introduced today’s speaker Mr. Lester Ross, Lawyer of Wilmer, Cutler, Pickering, Hale and Dorr LLP.
Lester gave a presentation about what the Rule of Law means in China. Part of his discussion dealt with the development of law in China. He gave some insights as to where there has been progress and other areas which are still in progress.
Rtn. Matt thanked Lester for his brilliant speech.
