Reports & Announcements
Certificates of thanks were presented to the following Individuals for their outstanding support of Rotary’s efforts in China:
Ms. Birdie Anderson, coordinator of Interact Club of Beijing at Dulwich College. Her efforts, vision and drive in developing and implementing the project to build homes in Cambodia, establish an on-line Interact classroom together with other Interact clubs in Hong Kong and Taiwan, supporting Rotary’s fund raising efforts and her personal commitment to Service at Dulwich College, coordinating charitable activities where she has worked with Roots and Shoots and adopting a panda in Chegdu.

Ms. Eva Lin Luolan, office manager of Rtn. Carl for her consistent and outstanding support of Rotary during the 2005 – 06 presidency of Carl Ludwig Dörwald, and in recognition of her personal ongoing commitment to helping children where ever she goes, which encapsulate the values for which Rotary stands.

Mr. Allen Yang. Rtn. Ruby introduced Allen’s extraordinary service as a volunteer intern for the Rotary Club of Beijing. His efforts in supporting our events and administration are truly appreciated not only by the Club in general but also by his supervisor Ruby Chang.

Carl mentioned that interact club is supporting a Cambodian House Building which recommend RCB to make some contribution.

A formal introduction was presented by representatives of Rotaplast who have been in China 3 times and plan to return. Rotaplast operates on those with cleft-lip issues. Recently 10 visiting Rotarians from Rotaplast USA were in Shijiazhuang working with their local partner; Beijing based China Population Welfare Foundation.

Visiting Rtn. Steve Ting from Cupertino CA, USA thanked RCB’s great hospitality by personal donating RMB 5000 to club Christmas bazaar.

Speaker’s Program
Speaker coordinator Rtn. Alan introduced Mr. Wolfgang Meyer, director of The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung. KAS is one of the political foundations of the Federal Republic of Germany. Its activities and projects are aimed at enhancing international cooperation and understanding. Mr. Meyer talked about KAS’s work area in China, which involves legal reforms, rule of law, social transformation, economic and social reforms; regional development; foreign and domestic security policy and promoting a free and active media. The Foundation has approached each of these topics, not in terms of dictating the answers, but in terms of exploring the issues for ways which promote stability, peace and democratic ideas.
President John thanked Wolfgang’s brilliant speech by presented a club banner as appreciation.
