Reports & Announcements
IPP Kevin introduced Nick Cham, sponsored by PE Gilbert to be initiated into the Club. His classification is Mergers & Acquisitions Taxation.
Nick is a Certified Public Accountant and a Commonwealth Scholar. He holds a master of Law from the University of Leuven in Belgium and a Master of US Taxation from the University of Denver College of Law. He also holds a BBA in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts. He is currently pursuing a PhD in law.
Nick is active in the Beijing business community and is currently a board member of the Benelux Chamber of Commerce. He previously served as the Vice President of the Chicago Jaycees, an organization which is dedicated to working with youth as they develop life skills.
He has also been involved in a number of community service projects including the elderly, homelessness, orphans, abused women and the handicapped.
He comes from a family with past Rotarians including his late grandfather CK Cheung was a prominent member of the Rotary Club of Hong Kong, and upon his passing Nick was given his Rotary pin.
Nick would like to participate in Rotary’s community service, fundraising, and administration functions, and says he is willing to make immediate contributions to our organization.
The Four Way Test was administered by new members Rtn. Nick Cham in English.

In an effort to set a minimum bid for the Bazaar’s silent auction, Bazaar Chairman Rtn. Ruby, solicited bids on two NOKIA mobile N97’s, members bid up the price to RMB 4500/each.

RF Director Rtn. Josephine introduced the GSE team from Australia. Team members made a quick self-introduction, but due to the shortage of time they will make their formal presentation at next Tuesday’s lunch.

Visiting Rtn. Charles Chan from Rotary Club Taipo, Hong Kong reported the virtual class room has been going very well with Interact club Beijing.

Speaker’s Program
Speaker coordinator Rtn. Ulrike Neiter introduced today’s speaker, Prof Gebhardt.
Prof Gebhardt gave a high Academic speech about “Reception of Western Thought at Chinese Universities”.  Prof. Gebhardt is currently teaching social science at Beijing University. He shared his experience of teaching western thoughts to Chinese students.
Rtn. Alan thanked Prof. Gebhardt for his excellent speech.
