Speakers Program:
President John introduced today’s speaker, Ms. Lisa Bentley to talk about “Orphan Prevention” & “Saving Levi”.
Lisa Misraje Bentley grew up in Los Angeles, California with her five brothers. She divided her time between her mother¹s small apartment, in West LA and her father¹s lavish home, and Jewish traditions in the Hollywood Hills. From an early age she learned to feel comfortable in both modest and extravagant lifestyles. She went on to attend college at Abilene Christian University.
Lisa lived the quintessential upper middle class lifestyle until, in 2001, she decided to enrich her life by moving to China to help medically disabled children. For the last 8 years, Lisa has not only devoted her life to her own 6 children, 2 of whom she adopted from China, but also to the care of medically disabled orphans. Since arriving in China, she has worked with two orphanages which provides medical assistance and temporary housing for orphans while working with adoption agencies to find them permanent families.  She is about to launch two new projects; “OP” (Orphan Prevention) along with “Levi’s friends” (helping fellow burn survivors).
Lisa shared a video called “Saving Levi”.  The story tells of the miraculous events that led to saving the life of her adopted son who was found abandoned in a desolate field with 3rd degree burns over 80% of his 6 week old body. Lisa credits her strong multi-faith for her ability to work tirelessly not only to save her own son but also the lives of hundreds of Chinese orphans.
Rtn. Curt thanked for Lisa’s very touching story and her devotion to save the orphans in China.
