Dear Rotarians and Visitors to the Rotary Club of Beijing,

 On behalf of the Rotary Club of Beijing, I would like to welcome your visit to our website and your interest to know more about us.

The Rotary Club of Beijing is one of only two Rotary Clubs currently chartered by the Rotary International in China (the other one is the Rotary Club of Shanghai). Inline with current China requirements, we are an expatriate-only club composed of around 70 leading business executives and senior diplomats who reside in Beijing and call Beijing “home away from home”. Some of us were Rotarians before coming to Beijing and the rest were inducted to be Rotarians here. We have been following the Rotary practices and principles like all other Rotary Clubs around the world. We welcome visiting Rotarians and guests to our club’s regular luncheon and other activities when you are in Beijing.

We enjoy excellent fellowship and we are dedicated to serve the community in which we live through a wide range of projects that help to make a difference to the lives of the people concerned. We work with leading Chinese and International Charities on various community and service projects. Some of our leading projects include the Gift of Life for hole in heart children, the Library Project for Chinese Schools, migrant children education etc. We also  enjoy good global connectivity with over 1.2 million Rotarians in over 31,000 clubs siutated in over 200 countries around the world.

Being the only Rotary Club in the China’s capital, we share the world’s attention for this country due to its economic success in recent times, which also stimulates joint interest in doing Rotary International programs and community service projects in China. We have partner clubs and organizations inside and outside China for these programs and projects. We take pride in our members’ spirit and efforts to do them in a professional and Rotary manner.

Every year brings new challenges and opportunities.  My goals as Club President for 2010/11 are:

  • To develop new community and service projects with leading Chinese and International Partners for worthwile causes in China and internationally.
  • To promote fellowship amongst our members and guests by increasing the number of fellowship events we hold so that we and our families can share and enjoy more of the Rotary family spirit;
  • To involve more members in our community and service projects which we undertake with leading Chinese and International Partners, by encouraging more of our members to become actively involved in our projects and committees;
  • To extend our reach within the Beijing metropolitan area by continuing to attract new members and to explore opportunities for greater global connectivity with other Rotary Clubs globally,
  • To continue to promote and share the good work Rotary does via our website, press, meida and other appropriate channels.

Yours in Rotary,

 Henry K. H. Wang
President (2010-11)
Rotary Club of Beijing
