Report & Announcements
Today was the assembly day meeting and President Kevin Fong presented his report on the December board meeting, which was held the previous evening. President Kevin reported the resolutions and motions that were approved by the Board and updated members regarding the Club and China Team matters. A copy of President Kevin’s presentation will be circulated to the membership after the meeting.
Today was also the Club’s Annual General Meeting and CS John Barnes collected member’s ballot paper votes for the 2009/10 board elections. President Kevin announced the results saying that there were a total of 36 votes cast and by majority vote, all nominations for the 2009/10 board had been successfully elected. The results of the 2009/10 board elections will be circulated to all members after the meeting and posted on the Club’s website
Past President Regula made a short presentation on why we should consider, as individuals, to donate money to Rotary. She explained by making a minimum donation of USD1000 we could become a Paul Harris Fellow. She also explained the working mechanism of the District Designed Fund (DDF) and showed us how our member donations to the Rotary Foundation come back to our district and our club to support our projects.
Ball Chair Rtn. Arne Gooss, announced that the Board had approved the date and venue for the 2009 Ball, which will be held on May 23rd, 2009 at the Kempinski Hotel. Rtn. Arne informed members that ticket prices will be RMB1200, and this will include entry to a lucky draw. He hoped that members will start to look for sponsors for the ball. Further details will be sent out to members in due course.
